This portrait series was developed during the self- initiated residency supported by Swansea School of Art and exhibited at Elysium Gallery as part of the series ‘No Place Like Home’.

The subject wears silver slippers, which synchronistically aligned to the themes of the project that recognised the alternative realities that intersect within otherwise normative space. The discovery defined the project title and identifies the subject as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, who, rather than escaping has remained trapped in an alternative reality unable to return to the world she once knew. (Although Dorothy wears gold slippers in the film the slippers are silver in the original novel).
